Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful healing modality. Since all aspects of the human experience manifest in the body, BCST supports all levels of health: body, mind and spirit. The beauty of the work is its emphasis on orienting to health and de-pathologizing illness.
Because the work affects all layers of the body and being, clients experience transformation on many levels: physical healing of illnesses and injuries, improved clarity and well-being that supports mental health, as well as your capacity to experience and engage with the world, including your felt sense of safety and embodiment, creating grounding and capacity for spiritual expansion.
One of the main avenues for the expression of health within the human experience is the central nervous system. Medical research shows that central nervous system dysfunction is at the root of about 90% of most conditions, so biodynamic craniosacral therapy has a wide range of applications.
History
With roots in the Osteopathic tradition, craniosacral therapy is a healing modality that is used to support the health of the nervous system by facilitating the inherent subtle motion of the cranial, spinal and pelvic structures of the body (hence the term “craniosacral”) by augmenting the fluid flow that these structures are suspended in.
The founder of this healing methodology, Dr. Sutherland discovered subtle rhythmic movements of the bones in his patients' craniums. Through self-experimentation, he discovered that these natural movements, when restricted, cause a host of maladies within the body, ranging from physiological symptoms to mental and emotional issues. When he was able to facilitate the natural rhythm of these movements, he found that illness and disease resolved and clients returned to health. Throughout the course of his long career, he accessed even subtler expressions of these rhythms, and found that the less he interfered with them from a mechanical point of view, and the more he allowed them to express while being witnessed, even deeper levels of health and healing would occur in his patients.
Modern craniosacral therapy for the most part has divided into two types of applications: a “biomechanical” model that uses subtle manipulation of the craniosacral structures to achieve outcomes, and a “biodynamic” approach that allows for the deeper and slower rhythms (called the Tide) to amplify the natural forces of health within the body and being.
I am an energy healer who works with the Tide using the Biodynamic approach to craniosacral therapy.
How it Works
There is a universal force that created you and it supports you throughout life. This energy is called the Tide. The Tide is not just an idea….it’s a palpable biorhythm within the body that is perceivable first and foremost through perception and consciousness (hands are an extension of that inner perception). Orienting to this force brings about a great amount of healing and it turns on your self-healing ability.
At its core, BCST is an energy modality. The roots of the Tide are energetic in nature. As quantum physics demonstrates, energy knows no space or time. So the idea that we must be in the same room with my hands on you is simply not true. We may be separate by distance, but are very much connected in the quantum.
What to Expect in a Session (In person or at distance)
In person, the work is performed on a massage table, the client is clothed and the touch is light and still. I utilize my consciousness and perception to allow the greater Intelligence of the Tide to amplify and lead the healing session, while my hands are an extension of inner perception and amplify the sensorial dimension.
At distance, I guide sessions in real time by communicating with the client via video or phone and utilizing my consciousness and perception to support the Tide in the session.
Both methods are simultaneously gentle and profoundly powerful. The beauty of distance work is that I can treat you from the comfort of your own home, which is especially useful for anyone recovering from illness, surgery, injury, or just generally feeling more at ease within their own surroundings.
